A total of 1,500 votes were cast for the ideas for Ülemiste City’s participatory budget 2025, and the outdoor cinema idea received the most votes. Ideas could be submitted from January to the end of February, and a total of over 60 ideas were submitted to the budget.
Among the ideas for this year, these received the most votes:
1. Summer outdoor cinema on the roof of a parking garage
2. Pop-up café/bakery/ice cream-smoothie bar in various locations in Ülemiste City during the spring and summer period
3. More trees and shrubs in parking areas and along the streets
4. Community sauna on the roof of Lurich with a barrel sauna
5. Regular pop-up concerts in various dining venues and outdoor areas on campus
The summer outdoor cinema on the roof of the parking garage won with 151 votes and will be implemented this summer.
In March, the Community Fund Council selected major development projects that will be supported by the fund this year: three modern bus stops on Lõõtsa Street and International Community Day. Among the charitable organizations supported was the NGO Crisis Program for Children and Youth, which offers grief counseling and support to children and young people who have lost a loved one.
One of the goals of the community fund, which was launched in early 2024, is to involve community members in contributing to the development of the campus. In addition to the inclusive budget, the community fund finances development projects, charity and community events. The vote for last year’s inclusive budget was won by the vertical landscaping created for the Suur-Sõjamäe 12a parking garage: virginia creeper plants were planted there, which can grow along the facade of the building.
