Two tram lines will start operating to Ülemiste City from August

In August, the tram connection to Tallinn Airport will be restored, served by tram lines T2 and T4. At the same time, all tram line numbers will be prefixed with the letter “T”, and at the end of August a new tram line, T6 (Kopli – Hobujaama – Suur-Paala), will be added to the tram network.

According to Kadi Pärnits, Chairman of the Management Board of Mainor AS, good transport connections are very important for the campus, as the number of talents at Ülemiste City is constantly growing. “As a sustainable campus, we value tram transport, which is a convenient and fast alternative to cars. We have been negotiating for a long time for trams to start serving the campus from both the Kopli and Tondi directions. Having two tram lines became possible thanks to the construction of the airport’s parallel road, which was completed in October of last year,” added Pärnits.

At the beginning of July, the contractor will hand over the completed airport tram track to Tallinn City Transport for testing. During this process, the readiness of the tracks, rolling stock, and traffic management will be checked, and the process of obtaining the operating permit will be finalised. The tram connection to the airport was interrupted in 2023 due to the construction of the Vanasadam tram line and later the Ülemiste railway terminal.
