CityBee joins the Ülemiste City rooftop parking pilot project

As part of the Test City pilot project, the rooftop parking solution under development is expanding and now includes CityBee in addition to Bolt. This step helps make the car-sharing service even more convenient for the campus community.

From now on, CityBee users can start and end their trips not only in the existing areas but also on the rooftop level of the H parking garage (Lõõtsa 11). This is the next step in the pilot project launched in December, which aims to test new ways of integrating car-sharing services into the urban environment.

According to Sten Pärnits, Chairman of the Management Board of Mainor Ülemiste, the smart utilization of the top floors of parking garages creates value for all parties, and the solution has already received positive feedback. “The rooftop parking pilot project has shown that such a solution helps balance parking demand and works well within the campus. This is precisely why we included the widely used CityBee in the project—its participation will help the solution reach an even larger user base,” said Pärnits.

The pilot project helps find a balance between car owners needing parking spaces in outdoor parking lots and the growing demand for car-sharing. Previously, short-term rental cars could mainly be parked on the outskirts of the campus, which reduced the convenience of the service. The pilot project makes it possible to relieve pressure on outdoor parking lots, leave more space for green areas, and make much more efficient use of rooftop levels that had previously stood unused.
