Ülemiste City is focused on developing and maintaining a strong community at the campus and also on the national level. The aim is for the people who work, study and live here to feel good, innovate and co-create a better environment. An active community supports the campus’ activities, attracts others, and supports innovation and collaboration to develop themselves and their businesses.

ÜLEMISTE CITY COMMUNITY MODEL
A model of a socially well-functioning campus created by researchers at the University of Tartu in three main dimensions – placemaking, sociability and communication. The figure presents the basic concepts and approaches related to sociability and the social-emotional values of public space perceived by people.

POSSIBILITIES FOR CO-CREATION
Ülemiste City community members have several opportunities for co-creation and networking. The participatory budget can be used to develop the urban space. Around 70 events take place on the campus every year, where you can get involved as an organizer or participant. All community members can add offers to the B2B offers page or the Ülemiste City community Facebook group. You can organize events, sports groups or take part in activities in the community building.
COMMUNITY FUND AND
PARTICIPATORY BUDGET
The community fund and its council, established by the developer, play an important role in the development of the Ülemiste City community, creating a stronger dialogue and giving community members more opportunities to have a say in the development of the campus environment.
The annual participatory budget idea collection allows the community to develop the environment according to their interests. Research shows that by involving the users of the space in the planning process, public space can be transformed into a place that is enjoyable, meets people’s needs, and creates connections between people and a personal connection to the place.

COMMUNITY BUILDING
Community building brings together the health and sports enthusiasts of the community. It is possible to organize events in the sports and dance halls or participate in activities.
