Views of the Ülemiste Campus are outdoor artworks created by Natalia Mirzoyan, offering a personal and abstract interpretation of the Ülemiste City environment. The series of works completed in the Öpik quarter does not try to depict the campus realistically, but creates visual moments that reflect the artist’s own experience and perception of the space.
The artist’s creative approach is based on experimentation and combining different materials. “I play with composition and colours in a way that does not imitate reality, but offers a personal, abstract vision,” Mirzoyan describes. Her works are born as if as memory images – fragmented, emotional and changing over time.
Each image functions as a momentary reflection of the surrounding world. “Each drawing becomes a snapshot from my memory – a reflection of the world and events that surround me at that particular moment in time,” the artist explains. This gives the works an intimate and personal dimension, making them more than merely depictions of urban space.
Mirzoyan’s background as an animation director is also perceptible – there is movement, rhythm and layering in the works, creating something like a visual narrative without a direct story. Forms and colours relate to one another dynamically, inviting the viewer to create meanings themselves.
Views of the Ülemiste Campus add softness and subjectivity to urban space, bringing an intuitive and artistic view alongside the technological and structured environment. The result is a set of works that do not provide definite answers, but create space for sensing and personal interpretation.
