The family game “Hanabi”, which means fireworks in Japanese, is a cooperative game where players must work together to create the perfect fireworks display by playing cards in the correct order. The cards come in five colors and are numbered from 1 to 5. Sounds simple, right? Not quite—because in this game, you hold your cards so that everyone can see them except you. Other players will give you hints, but the number of hints is limited, and so is the number of cards. If the game feels too easy, there are also rainbow-colored fireworks cards to add extra challenge.
In 2013, the game was awarded the Spiel des Jahres prize for Game of the Year.
