In the party game “Codenames,” the spymasters of two opposing teams know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know only the agents’ code names.

Teams compete to be the first to locate all their agents. The spymasters give one-word clues that can refer to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess the words of the correct color while avoiding the words belonging to the opposing team. And everyone tries to steer clear of the assassin.

In 2016, the game was awarded the Spiel des Jahres – Game of the Year award.
