On May 7th at 4:00 PM, artist Marge Viirg will open the exhibition “Sleepless Night” in the Öpiku Conference Center Gallery (Valukoja 8). The images in the exhibition are hand-drawn ink graphics placed on a larger surface, plus a few compositions.
Marge Viirg’s (born 1962) artistic journey began in 1986 with her first solo exhibition, followed by an invitation to join the Tõnis Vint Friendship Group and Studio22. She graduated from the Art Department at Tallinn University, took courses at the Open Academy of Estonian Art Academy, and improved her skills at Tõnis Laanemaa’s art studio. She is a member of the Estonian Art Association, the Estonian Free Printmakers Association, and is a member of the art groups VEDELIK and the Central Estonian Artists’ Association. Her most recent group exhibitions were held with the art groups VEDELIK and the Central Estonian Artists’ Association.
As an artist, Marge Viirg has expressed herself primarily through graphics, ink line graphics and abstract acrylic painting. Her work is characterized by a limited color palette, contrasting and layered searches, the beauty of lines, empty spaces, rhythms, and sign language. Her signature is various games on the structural grid, geometricity, line, and free architecture.
The exhibition will be open from May 7th to the end of August.
