“Boy with an Airplane” is a mural created by Gerly Piho, bringing lightness, movement and youthful playfulness into urban space. The work depicts three boys in movement – in a moment where one of them throws a paper airplane that continues its path across the wall, as if carrying thoughts, ideas and dreams along with it.

The figures, created in a minimalist but expressive style, partly merge with the texture of the brick wall, creating an interesting visual contrast between the real and the drawn world. Blue horizontal lines give the work rhythm and a direction of movement, emphasising the trajectory of the airplane and the dynamics of the whole scene.

The paper airplane as a symbol refers to the creativity, experimentation and freedom of childhood – ideas that are not yet limited by rules or expectations. At the same time, it also carries a broader meaning, referring to sending dreams on their way and the courage to bring them to life.

The work relates to the surrounding environment, bringing humanity and nostalgia into an industrial and functional space. It creates a bridge between the simple moments of childhood and contemporary urban space, reminding us that even in the most everyday places there is room for creativity and play.

“Boy with an Airplane” is a quiet, but impactful work that does not try to dominate, but rather complements the environment – inviting the viewer to pause for a moment and let their thought move forward together with the airplane.
