About the building
Lõõtsa 4 is the building of the former Dvigatel factory built in 1900 where mostly so-called fine work was done meaning smaller spare parts were manufactured. Until 2006, there was a furniture manufactory in the building. In 2006-2008 the building was reconstructed and today, it is used as an office building.
The building was named after Johannes Käis, the founder of the methodology and phenology of Estonian natural history. With his ideas, Johannes Käis as the innovator of education gave the inspiration to focus on children and down-to-earth approaches in teaching basics.
The building is divided into 3 departments or wings. In department A, there is the office hotel of Technopolis and in department B, there are the offices of the Education and Youth Board. The building has been awarded the LEED Silver certificate.
